About the position

The Senior Tooling Buyer is responsible for managing tooling, design changes, and trial part maturation throughout the new model development cycle. This role involves analyzing tool shipment lead times and costs to ensure timely delivery of parts to North American facilities, while effectively communicating with suppliers to meet project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Issue and manage Tool Release for new model tools and equipment, correlating tooling lead-times and die go readiness with Supplier and Design.
  • Review and issue design change and CRF application, negotiating with suppliers as needed and assessing supplier compensation requests due to design changes.
  • Lead supplier readiness activities for new and critical suppliers to ensure project targets are achieved at key development stages.
  • Manage one or more Senior Tooling Buyer level special projects targeting improvement plans for department process efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Prepare and conduct a transfer of relevant new model information to the mass production team and support production recovery efforts as requested.
  • Mentor and support a team of associates in Tool Release, Design Change, and Cost technical know-how.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (Business or Supply Chain Management Degree preferred).
  • 2 - 3 years of Purchasing or Logistics experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Successful completion of CL3 level or equivalent years of experience in the industry.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships.
  • Experience working in teams to build consensus.
  • Ability to multi-task and solve problems effectively.
  • Strong Excel skills.
