About the position

The Lee County Port Authority is seeking a skilled and highly motivated individual to join our general aviation airport at Page Field where you will enjoy a positive and supportive work environment in a challenging and rewarding career in the aviation industry. The successful candidate must have a diverse skillset with the capacity to manage a day-to-day workload involving preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair to airfield lighting and control system, HVAC systems, security equipment, building electrical and automation systems, plumbing, gate operators, and various other equipment and apparatus. At times, work may involve mowing and grounds maintenance including string trimming, grading, and irrigation system repairs. Work may be inspected by the crew chief and/or supervisor during or upon completion for compliance. This position will act as a crew leader on certain projects as assigned. Must be a self-starter and have the drive to learn new skills and trades. We provide all the necessary tools to support your work, have a safety shoe reimbursement program and a uniform program, including optional laundry service.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the airport operation for yourself and others at all times
  • Maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems: single and three phase, solar inverters, interior, exterior and pole lighting, building control systems, gate operators, and security systems
  • Document all work performed using the department's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems: chilled water system, packaged units, split systems, exhaust fans, variable air volume and fan terminal units, portable units, and duct heaters
  • Repair and maintain previously installed commercial plumbing systems ranging from electronic fixtures, lift stations, oil water separators, and other sewer systems
  • May be asked to operate equipment such as articulating lifts, riding lawn mowers, backhoes, dump trucks, large tractors, and other heavy equipment
  • Assist Crew Chief with troubleshooting and repairs to airfield lighting circuits and related equipment
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors and public
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Will be required to work any shift, weekends, as well as be on an emergency 'on call' rotation schedule
  • May be required to attend educational workshops/seminars either locally or out-of-town
  • Performs all other related work as required or directed

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and building maintenance, with the ability to maintain accurate records and submit reports.
  • Able to follow instructions, communicate via two-way radio in noisy environments, and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders, work at heights, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate necessary equipment.
  • Professional and courteous interactions with co-workers and the public.
  • Completion of Airport Operations Driver Training within 12 months of hire.
  • Basic proficiency in Google applications; valid Florida driver's license required.
  • High school diploma or GED required; five years of experience in building trades preferred or equivalent training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid competency certificate from Lee County or Florida in a building trade or an associate degree in a related field.
