About the position

The Senior Transit Project/Program Manager at AECOM will lead and manage complex transportation projects and programs, focusing on transit systems such as heavy and light rail, commuter rail, bus, and ferry services. This role involves providing technical expertise, strategic direction, and innovation in project delivery while mentoring junior staff and maintaining strong client relationships within the transit industry.

Responsibilities

• Manage a multi-disciplinary team.
• Lead, manage and provide technical expertise for mid-large size complex transportation projects and programs in Transit.
• Scope and estimate projects.
• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for project delivery.
• Prepare technical reports and analyses.
• Drive project performance and manage project scope, budgets, and schedules.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in skill development and workforce planning.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other Transit market sectors.
• Interact continuously with clients to assure satisfaction with AECOM services.
• Develop and build strong relationships with existing and new clients.
• Identify new opportunities and develop technical proposals.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering plus eight years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• PE License.
• 14 years professional experience preferred.
• 10 years of Transit experience preferred.
• Experience with MBTA preferred.
• Knowledge of FRA, DOT, AREMA and local railroad/transit criteria preferred.
• Strong communication skills preferred.
• Advanced degree in Engineering preferred.
• Rail Program Management experience preferred.
• Alternative Delivery experience preferred.
