The Senior Transportation Planner performs complex and advanced professional level planning duties in support of transportation plans, programs, and studies. This role involves researching, extracting, and compiling data for complex reports, events, plans, and presentations. The planner assists in the production of reports and documents, recommending new approaches to continually improve the services performed. A key responsibility includes providing socio-economic inputs for travel demand forecast models, coding and updating land use models, and improving the accuracy and reliability of planning models. In addition to technical skills, the Senior Transportation Planner represents the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) in meetings with various groups or individuals, answering queries and providing information and assistance as required. The planner is also expected to participate in professional development sessions or seminars to stay current on trends, innovations, and legal developments in the planning field. The role requires the operation of a variety of office equipment, including computers and associated software, and involves conducting and independently completing a variety of assigned analyses, models, scenarios, and special projects as assigned by the supervisor. Furthermore, the planner assists in the management of multiple projects and deliverables as directed.
