About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer will join Jacobs' Electrical / Systems design group, focusing on providing technical and professional services related to systems design and development for public infrastructure governmental clients. This role involves supporting the delivery, implementation, and management of complex systems and services, particularly in communications networks and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The position is based in Philadelphia with some flexibility for remote work, and it emphasizes skill development and knowledge sharing within a growing team.

Responsibilities

• Provide project support in the delivery, implementation, and management of complex systems and services related to communications networks.
• Conduct field inspection and analysis, technology research, reviews, studies, and alternatives analysis.
• Engage in planning, systems engineering, and detailed design for ITS infrastructure facilities.
• Prepare contract documentation including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Develop reports and correspondence related to project activities.
• Manage construction for public infrastructure agencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Substantial years of Systems Engineering experience within the transportation industry.
• Experience supporting hardware and software integration, requirements development, verification and validation, and testing.
• Substantial experience with traffic management systems design and implementation.
• Good knowledge of electronic data processing, information technology, data analytics, AI/ML, and network communications systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software products.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel for site visits.
• Experience working with transportation agency clients.
• Project and leadership experience in multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Experience with design/development tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Visio.
• Experience in communications and software design requirements and development.
