About the position

The Senior Underwriter will join the Excess Construction team at Twin Maples Specialty in Alpharetta, GA, responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of excess construction accounts. This role focuses on ensuring profitability and growth while leveraging a deep understanding of construction risks and strong analytical skills to build relationships with brokers and clients.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, underwrite, and manage a portfolio of excess construction accounts, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and standards.
• Analyze construction risks, assess exposure, and determine appropriate coverage and pricing.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to drive business growth and retention.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including claims, risk control, and actuarial, to ensure comprehensive risk assessment and management.
• Monitor market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
• Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance the company's visibility and reputation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of underwriting experience in the construction insurance industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction risks, underwriting principles, and insurance products.
• Proven track record of successfully managing a portfolio of complex construction accounts.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.

• Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are preferred.
