About the position

The Senior Underwriter/Account Manager at Great American Insurance Group is responsible for marketing, underwriting, and producing profitable Fidelity and Crime business. This role combines risk assessment with relationship management to ensure compliance with company objectives while fostering strong connections with clients and internal teams. The position is fully remote, allowing flexibility for candidates in Texas or Colorado.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability within scope of authority and divisional objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers to attract and retain profitable business.
  • Interact with producers/insureds, assist in marketing calls, and participate in underwriting/production calls.
  • Interpret, explain, and market products and services effectively.
  • Visit producers and principals, and attend industry or company events as needed.
  • Use independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service throughout the underwriting process.
  • Receive and analyze submissions to determine terms to offer, including policy limits, deductibles, and coverage options.
  • Assess risk quality and compliance within company guidelines.
  • Price business in accordance with company guidelines and make recommendations on risks.
  • Enter, maintain, and monitor accounts using underwriting, analysis, and desktop systems.
  • Prepare effective internal and external communications on underwriting issues.
  • Apply underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 6-10 years of insurance underwriting experience.
  • Experience in professional lines/crime is preferred but not required.
  • High level of organizational skills and ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for business purposes.
