Responsibilities

• Analyze complex insurance submissions and recognize exposures.
• Manage assigned underwriting book of business.
• Provide input into company underwriting guidelines and pricing strategies.
• Achieve corporate goals through risk analysis and strategy development.
• Act as a subject matter expert and mentor within the Underwriting Department.
• Foster positive business relationships with internal and external customers.
• Write and retain business within established binding authority.
• Negotiate solutions while keeping customer needs in mind.
• Communicate professionally and timely with all customers.
• Maintain underwriting expertise and stay updated on industry trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in underwriting.
• 7+ years of experience with a property and casualty insurance company.
• Associate in Underwriting designation or completion of two CPCU courses may substitute for degree.
• Expertise in underwriting function and insurance coverages.
• Ability to analyze exposures and develop appropriate solutions.
• Strong decision-making skills within binding authority.
• Solid organizational and communication skills.
