This role offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned underwriting professional to contribute to our continued growth and success. As a Senior Underwriter at Knight Insurance Company, you will play a critical role in evaluating, analyzing, and managing underwriting processes across various lines of business, including general liability, commercial auto, personal auto, and other Excess and Surplus (E&S) as well as admitted lines of insurance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of underwriting guidelines, possess the ability to audit underwriting files, and provide insightful summaries to the management team regarding the outlook on different classes of business. Additionally, you will be expected to be knowledgeable about the unique challenges associated with writing insurance in different states.

Responsibilities

  • Review Underwriting Guidelines: Thoroughly assess and stay up to date with underwriting guidelines for various insurance products offered by Knight Insurance Company.
  • Audit Underwriting Files: Conduct comprehensive reviews of underwriting files to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Summarize Outlook: Prepare detailed summaries and reports for the management team, highlighting the prospects and risks associated with different classes of business within general liability, commercial auto, personal auto, and E&S/admitted lines.
  • State-Specific Knowledge: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the challenges and nuances associated with underwriting in different states, adapting strategies and approaches accordingly.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate and assess the risk profiles of potential clients, determining appropriate coverage and pricing.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other underwriters, claims professionals, and sales teams to ensure a collaborative approach to risk management and customer satisfaction.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and internal policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Finance, Business, Risk Management).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of underwriting experience in general liability, commercial auto, personal auto, and E&S/admitted lines.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines and practices.
  • Familiarity with state-specific insurance regulations and challenges.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
