About the position

Dev Technology Group is seeking a Senior Unix/Linux Engineer/Administrator to support government clients by creating and maintaining solutions that meet their needs. This role involves independent work as well as collaboration with team members and stakeholders, focusing on mission-critical systems that provide value to end users. The position offers significant growth potential within a variety of systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Unix administration duties including data center operations best practices.
  • Manage system certificates for security compliance.
  • Implement best practices for change management, incident management, problem management, and security.
  • Create and maintain Solaris and Linux file systems, user and application accounts.
  • Work with security teams for Authority to Operate (ATO) and provide relevant documentation.
  • Maintain Solaris LDOM cluster and Linux systems.
  • Operate and maintain NetBackup systems.
  • Apply patch updates to remediate known vulnerabilities on Solaris and Linux systems.
  • Support Unix/Linux server operations, including OS clustering, partitioning, and virtualization.
  • Manage systems consisting of network hardware, server farms, Hitachi SANs, and tape drives.
  • Provide oversight for operating system, firmware, and hardware personnel supporting the system.
  • Utilize advanced maintenance techniques and failover plans.
  • Implement load balancing techniques in complex operational systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Communicate technical information to nontechnical stakeholders and make critical operational decisions.
  • Work in an agile environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience in Unix/Linux administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Competency in Unix/Linux, VMware, and Unix Infrastructure.
  • Experience with Solaris and Linux server support, troubleshooting, and storage implementation.
  • Proven experience with OS clustering, partitioning, and virtualization.
  • Basic knowledge of network administration.
