About the position

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the User Research team at Olympus and become a key player in supporting the design and product strategy of the new Digital Health Unit! The Senior User Researcher in Operations is responsible for the day-to-day logistics supporting the planning and execution of user research activities. In this role, you will be coordinating operations for a broad range of research efforts in collaboration with UXRs, designers, product managers, engineers, and other partners. You will have a deep understanding of the end-to-end research process, extensive experience with project management of mixed methods studies, be able to relay information clearly to key stakeholders, and effectively manage research-related operational tasks. You will enable the research team to do their best work, through the orchestration & optimization of people, processes, tools, and craft. Your responsibilities will include coordinating research operations related to project planning, creating roadmaps, engaging with research partners, recruiting, scheduling, communicating project status updates, and developing risk mitigation strategies for potential scenarios that can jeopardize data quality and study timelines. You will manage research activities related to high quality data collection, analysis, documentation, deliverables, dissemination, and archiving of research materials. Continuously evaluating these processes for efficiency and effectiveness, you will implement improvements as necessary. You will also be responsible for the development and socialization of UXR onboarding materials, best practices, playbooks, and templates. With deep experience in UXR tools and platforms such as Dscout, Qualtrics, Dovetail, User Testing, and Calendly, you will support the configuration and training of the team on these research tools and platforms. Additionally, you will drive collaboration and coordinate alignment with cross-functional partners, demonstrating high attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, good judgement and critical thinking, and proactive problem-solving abilities. Your outstanding verbal and written communication skills will be essential for effective communication throughout the organization, excelling in candor and tact.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate research operations related to project planning, creating roadmaps, engaging with research partners, recruiting, scheduling, communicating project status updates, and developing risk mitigation strategies for potential scenarios that can jeopardize data quality and study timelines.

  • Continuously evaluate research processes for efficiency and effectiveness, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Develop and socialize UXR onboarding materials, best practices, playbooks, and templates.
  • Support the configuration and training of the team on UXR tools and platforms such as Dscout, Qualtrics, Dovetail, User Testing, and Calendly.
  • Drive collaboration and coordinate alignment with cross-functional partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, or User Experience (or equivalent work experience in a related field) is required.
  • Master's or PhD in Anthropology, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, or User Experience (or equivalent work experience in a related field) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in UX Research.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience conducting research and testing of web applications.
  • Minimum of 6 years working as part of a product team in an agile environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise utilizing various research design methods (e.g., user interviews, usability studies, contextual inquiry, surveys, etc.).
  • Experience leading strategic research efforts and integrating user research insights into product roadmaps, strategy, and designs.
  • Strong knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable in a highly technical environment; ability to engage with quantitative stakeholders and understand quantitative findings and materials.
  • Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Medical technology or healthcare experience preferred, although not required.
