About the position

The Senior User Experience (UX) Designer at McGraw Hill is responsible for leading the design of web and mobile solutions for K-12 curriculum experiences. This role emphasizes a user-centered approach to product development, utilizing research insights to create high-quality, accessible design deliverables. The designer will collaborate with various teams, including business stakeholders and engineering, to ensure that the design solutions align with both user needs and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design solutions that balance business needs, technical capabilities, and user feedback.
  • Focus on information architecture, user flow, and interaction design for high-quality, accessible experiences.
  • Independently manage UX tasks within a workstream and collaborate with product, project, and engineering teams.
  • Align closely with design strategists or lead designers to support the company's vision and strategy.
  • Promote human-centered design practices across cross-functional product teams.
  • Address complex design challenges and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Design user flows, wireframes, and prototypes, ensuring consistency with the overall user journey.
  • Present designs to stakeholders, explaining design choices and leading discussions on experience aspects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HCI, Information Architecture, Digital Design, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development or UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing web and mobile designs.
  • Knowledgeable in usability principles, interface design trends, and creating low- and high-fidelity design documentation.
  • Proficient in UX tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and collaboration tools (e.g., Lucid, Miro).
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, with strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
