About the position

The Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher will play a pivotal role in enhancing the AWS Commerce platform by conducting comprehensive user research to inform product development. This position focuses on understanding customer needs and behaviors to drive innovation and improve the user experience across various AWS services. The researcher will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify research opportunities and translate insights into actionable strategies that align with the product roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for innovation and refine customer interactions with AWS commerce products and services.
  • Execute strategic research in collaboration with UX designers, product managers, and engineers.
  • Determine the best research methods (quantitative and qualitative) to address user questions based on project needs.
  • Define and maintain a comprehensive research roadmap, ensuring it remains relevant and communicated effectively.
  • Translate research data and insights into strategic design direction.
  • Foster a deep understanding and empathy for customers among diverse audiences, including designers, PMs, engineers, and business leaders.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to prioritize research questions based on project goals and current knowledge.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with UX research, including formative, generative, and evaluative methodologies across all product lifecycle stages.
  • Mixed method experience, including qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables such as study plans, journey maps, and reports.
  • BS in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Cultural Anthropology, or a related discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS or Ph.D. in Human Factors, HCI, HCDE, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, or similar fields.
  • Quantitative research skills, including experience with cluster analysis, MaxDiff, surveys, and behavioral telemetry.
  • Qualitative research skills, including contextual inquiries, interviews, focus group sessions, survey design, and qualitative data analysis.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, writing, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
