About the position

The Senior User Researcher will play a crucial role in enhancing the AWS cloud computing experience by conducting user research that informs product development. This position focuses on identifying opportunities for innovation within AWS commerce products and services, translating user needs into actionable insights, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive strategic impact across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for innovation and refine how customers use AWS commerce products and services.
  • Execute strategic research in collaboration with UX designers, product managers, and engineers.
  • Define and execute a comprehensive research roadmap, ensuring its relevance through regular updates.
  • Translate data and insights into strategy and design direction effectively.
  • Create a deep understanding and empathy for customers across diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to prioritize research questions based on project goals and risks.
  • Continually learn, grow, and improve the craft of UX research.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with UX research, including formative, generative, and evaluative methodological approaches across all product lifecycle stages.
  • Mixed method experience, including qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables such as study plans, journey maps, and reports.
  • BS in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Cultural Anthropology, or related discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS or Ph.D. in Human Factors, HCI, HCDE, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, or similar.
  • Quantitative research skills, including experience with cluster analysis, MaxDiff, surveys, and behavioral telemetry.
  • Qualitative research skills, including experience with contextual inquiries, interviews, focus group sessions, survey design, and qualitative data analysis.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, writing, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • An unfailing passion and capacity to advocate on behalf of users.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
