About the position

Orbis Operations is seeking a Senior User Researcher to join our remote, agile Product Engineering team to develop our flagship SaaS offering, Discovery. The User Researcher will create and drive the process for the gathering of human insights and synthesizing insights into the product direction. This role is pivotal in ensuring that user research informs product development and enhances user experience. The User Researcher will own the entire research process and will work closely with our core development team to design, deploy, and evaluate new features, iteratively honing the product based on user feedback and insights. In this position, the User Researcher will work within the Product Engineering team but will maintain a high level of agency to create, implement, and iterate on user research processes within the company and team. This includes leading the user research effort, initiating, collecting, and synthesizing human insights that will guide product decisions. The User Researcher will collaborate with Design and Front-End Engineers to mock, test, and improve the user experience of our products. Additionally, the User Researcher will work with the Delivery Lead to ensure that features supported by user research are prioritized effectively. The role requires availability for team core hours from 1pm-5pm ET and adherence to all team responsibilities outlined in our team charter.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the user research effort within Orbis and initiate, collect, and synthesize human insights.
  • Work with our Design and Front-End Engineers to mock, test, and improve our products user experience.
  • Work with our Delivery Lead to ensure user research supported features are prioritized.
  • Be available for team core hours from 1pm-5pm ET.
  • Uphold all team responsibilities outlined in our team charter.

Requirements

  • Some Masters or PhD level education in a human-factors based field of research/education; 5-7 years of professional experience doing user research on other SaaS or software products may be substituted for formal education.
  • Demonstrated experience in User Research for software-based products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in software development, especially Typescript or JavaScript.
