About the position

The Data Visualization-based UX Designer at Apple will play a crucial role in transforming complex datasets into clear and engaging user experiences. This position involves collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to design intuitive dashboards and interactive tools that empower users to make data-driven decisions. The designer will focus on creating visually appealing and actionable information for a variety of audiences, ensuring accessibility and performance optimization across devices.

Responsibilities

  • Create intuitive and visually compelling charts, graphs, dashboards, and other visualizations to present complex data clearly and effectively.
  • Conduct user research to understand the target audience, their behaviors, and preferences regarding data consumption.
  • Design wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to communicate the structure, flow, and interaction of data-heavy applications.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, product managers, and developers, to ensure designs are feasible and aligned with project goals.
  • Conduct usability testing for data visualization components, iterating on designs based on user feedback and data analytics.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a design system focused on data visualization standards.
  • Ensure that all visualizations and user experiences are accessible to users with diverse needs, aligning with accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG).
  • Apply tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Tableau, D3.js, and others to design and prototype data visualization-based experiences.
  • Work with engineering to ensure that designs are optimized for performance and responsiveness across devices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Design, including 5+ years of leading a design team.
  • 5+ years experience with Data & Analytics teams to create data and insights centric designs for decision intelligence.
  • Proven track record of creating intuitive dashboards, reports, and other data-focused products.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.

  • Experience with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a user-first mentality.
  • Ability to translate complex data into meaningful stories.
