About the position

The Data Visualization-based UX Designer at Apple will play a crucial role in transforming complex datasets into clear and engaging user experiences. This position focuses on designing intuitive dashboards, reports, and interactive tools that empower users to make data-driven decisions. The designer will collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to ensure that the visualizations are not only aesthetically pleasing but also actionable and accessible to a diverse audience.

Responsibilities

  • Create intuitive and visually compelling charts, graphs, dashboards, and other visualizations to present complex data clearly and effectively.
  • Conduct user research to understand the target audience, their behaviors, and preferences regarding data consumption.
  • Design wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to communicate the structure, flow, and interaction of data-heavy applications.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, product managers, and developers, to ensure designs are feasible and aligned with project goals.
  • Conduct usability testing for data visualization components, iterating on designs based on user feedback and data analytics.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a design system focused on data visualization standards.
  • Ensure that all visualizations and user experiences are accessible to users with diverse needs, aligning with accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG).
  • Apply tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Tableau, D3.js, and others to design and prototype data visualization-based experiences.
  • Work with engineering to ensure that designs are optimized for performance and responsiveness across devices.

Requirements

  • Overall 10+ years of experience in Design.
  • 5+ years experience with Data & Analytics teams to create data and insights centric designs for decision intelligence.
  • Proven track record of creating intuitive dashboards, reports, and other data-focused products.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a user-first mentality.
  • Ability to translate complex data into meaningful stories.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative attitude and experience working in a cross-functional team.
