About the position

As a Senior UX Designer at Marriott International, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital experiences of one of the world's leading hospitality brands. This position is not just about creating visually appealing designs; it is about crafting commerce-focused web products that enhance user engagement and drive revenue conversion. You will be part of a dynamic User Experience & Design team that is dedicated to delivering best-in-class digital solutions. Your work will involve collaborating closely with the Director of User Experience, product management, and technology teams to ensure that the needs of both business and leisure customers are met effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for producing a variety of design artifacts, including sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, and prototypes. Your strong portfolio will be essential, showcasing your experience in UX and interaction design, particularly in commerce solutions. You will need to demonstrate a solid understanding of usability and transactional design best practices, especially as they pertain to large-scale global digital applications. Your ability to balance conversion techniques with an elevated user experience will be crucial in this position. You will also be expected to stay updated on industry trends and apply new knowledge to identify strategic opportunities for competitive advantages. Your role will require you to communicate your design decisions effectively, using both qualitative and quantitative data to support your recommendations. As a thought partner, you will provide insights based on research and data to enhance user experiences across all digital touchpoints. This position requires a proactive approach, as you will work independently while also knowing when to escalate issues to your manager.

Responsibilities

  • Design commerce-focused web products with a focus on data-driven design.
  • Produce sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, flows, designs, motion specs, prototypes, and presentations as needed.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on key functional systems to shepherd strategic initiatives from idea to implementation.
  • Ensure hotel brands and the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program are infused correctly throughout digital products.
  • Reference Design System Manager for appropriate patterns, components, and styles in user experience design work.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing to ensure quality experiences on live digital products.
  • Keep skills up-to-date on industry trends and apply new knowledge to identify strategic opportunities.
  • Collaborate with various user experience disciplines within the team to advance work.
  • Provide accurate estimates for project timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates and provide regular status updates to the manager.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in digital product design.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience/education.
  • Experience in interaction design and visual design.
  • Strong grounding in usability and transactional design best practices.
  • Experience with large-scale global digital apps or websites in the commerce space.
  • Proven experience with commerce platforms from homepage through checkout processes.
  • Well versed in industry best practices for increasing search rate and step conversion.
  • Strong grounding in search forms, search results, and general usability best practices.
  • Proven experience delivering concepts, user journeys, and prototypes across platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in large-scale global digital entities within the hospitality or travel industry.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills including discovery facilitation and storytelling.
  • Experience with Agile / SAFE development methodologies.
