About the position

As a Senior UX Designer at Marriott International, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital experiences of one of the most recognized hospitality brands in the world. This position is not just about creating visually appealing designs; it is about crafting commerce-focused web products that enhance user engagement and drive revenue conversion. You will be part of a high-energy User Experience & Design team, where your contributions will directly impact the customer journey, from initial interaction to final purchase. Your work will involve a blend of tactical and strategic design efforts, ensuring that every digital touchpoint is optimized for both functionality and emotional connection. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Director of User Experience, product management, and technology teams to address the needs of various customer segments, including business travelers, leisure guests, and members of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program. Your ability to produce high-quality design work as an individual contributor, while also guiding and mentoring internal and external designers, will be crucial. A strong portfolio showcasing your experience in UX and interaction design, particularly in commerce solutions, is essential. You will need to highlight your expertise in conversion optimization, simplicity, and ease-of-use in your past projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in usability and transactional design best practices, with proven experience in delivering user journeys, prototypes, and concepts across multiple platforms, including desktop, mobile web, and apps. Your role will also involve producing various design artifacts such as sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, and prototypes to effectively communicate your design vision. You will be expected to champion conversion techniques while maintaining an elevated user experience, promoting UX best practices, and demonstrating strong presentation and negotiation skills. Thriving in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously will be key to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Design commerce-focused web products that enhance user engagement and drive revenue conversion.
  • Collaborate with the Director of User Experience, product management, and technology teams to meet customer needs.
  • Produce design artifacts such as sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, and prototypes.
  • Provide direction to internal and external designers while also contributing as an individual designer.
  • Champion conversion techniques while balancing user experience.
  • Communicate design concepts through compelling visuals and deliverables.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in digital product design.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience/education.
  • Experience in interaction design and visual design.
  • Strong grounding in usability and transactional design best practices.
  • Experience with large-scale global digital apps or websites in the commerce space.
  • Proven experience with commerce platforms from homepage through checkout processes.
  • Well versed in industry best practices for increasing search rate and step conversion.
  • Strong grounding in search forms, search results, and general usability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in large-scale global digital entities within the hospitality or travel industry.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, including discovery facilitation and storytelling.
  • Experience with Agile / SAFE development methodologies.
