About the position

SimpliSafe is seeking a Senior UX Designer to lead and manage design systems within the UX Design and Research team. This role involves collaborating across the organization to evolve and maintain a comprehensive design system for both internal and consumer products across web and mobile platforms. The position emphasizes flexibility, innovation, and a commitment to creating engaging user experiences while supporting the company's mission of keeping every home secure.

Responsibilities

  • Design mobile and web components and patterns in collaboration with design and engineering teams, brand guidelines, and business requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with designers, content designers, researchers, product managers, developers, and stakeholders to define and develop the design system.
  • Maintain and improve the mobile and web component design libraries in Figma based on internal user feedback.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to evolve the design system.
  • Create detailed documentation to support the design and engineering use of the design system, including governance for quality, change management, QA, and release cycles.
  • Manage branching and track development work in Figma for design handoff processes.
  • Lead and improve how product teams design and build using the design system.
  • Incorporate accessibility into the creative design process and advocate for inclusive experiences.

Requirements

  • Expertise with design tools such as Figma, ZeroHeight, and Storybook.
  • Deep experience in design systems, visual design, interactions, and micro-animations.
  • Strong understanding of design fundamentals like typography, color, and iconography.
  • Experience designing for consumer-facing and back-office products for iOS, Android, and web.
  • Understanding of technical constraints and coding experience to design iterative solutions.
  • Experience with Design Ops to orchestrate design teams, processes, and tools.
  • Strong communication skills and openness to new ideas and diversity of thought.
  • Proven track record of creating and shipping products that evolve and need maintenance.
  • An online portfolio showcasing design thinking and expertise.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in a design and/or human behavior-related field such as Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Architecture, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Sociology, Communication, Information Science, Economics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience working with user experiences at the intersection of hardware, software, and service design.
