About the position

As a Senior UX Designer at Marriott International, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital experiences of one of the world's leading hospitality companies. This position is designed for a creative and strategic thinker who is passionate about user experience and has a strong background in designing commerce-focused web products. You will be responsible for creating best-in-class digital experiences that not only drive revenue conversion but also foster emotional engagement with our customers. Your work will directly impact both business outcomes and customer satisfaction, making this a highly influential role within the User Experience & Design team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Director of User Experience, product management, and technology teams to address the needs of various customer segments, including business, leisure, and loyalty members. You will be expected to produce high-quality design work as an individual contributor while also providing guidance and direction to both internal and external designers. A strong portfolio showcasing your experience in UX and interaction design, particularly in commerce solutions, is essential for this position. Your portfolio should highlight your efforts in conversion optimization, simplicity, and ease-of-use, demonstrating your ability to create user-friendly digital products. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in digital product design, with a solid educational background in a related field. You should be well-versed in various user experience disciplines, including interaction design and visual design, and possess a strong understanding of usability and transactional design best practices. Your experience should include working on large-scale global digital applications and commerce platforms, with a focus on enhancing user journeys from homepage to checkout. You will also be expected to stay updated on industry trends and apply new knowledge to identify strategic opportunities for competitive advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Design commerce-focused web products with a focus on data-driven, best-in-class product design.
  • Collaborate with the Director of User Experience, product management, and technology teams to meet customer needs.
  • Produce sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, flows, designs, motion specs, prototypes, and presentations as needed.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on key functional systems and hotel brands to ensure seamless integration in digital products.
  • Reference Design System Manager for appropriate patterns, components, and styles in user experience design work.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing to ensure quality experiences on live digital products.
  • Communicate design concepts clearly, citing industry best practices and supporting data.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Develop relationships with other teams to facilitate collaboration and answer questions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in digital product design.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience/education.
  • Experience in interaction design and visual design.
  • Strong grounding in usability and transactional design best practices.
  • Experience with large-scale global digital apps or commerce platforms.
  • Proven experience with commerce platforms from homepage through checkout processes.
  • Well-versed in industry best practices for increasing search rate and step conversion.
  • Experience delivering concepts, user journeys, and prototypes across platforms (desktop, mobile web, app).

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in large-scale global digital entities within the hospitality or travel industry.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, including discovery facilitation and storytelling.
  • Experience with Agile / SAFE development methodologies.
