About the position

As a Senior UX Visual Designer on the Personalization team at Google Search, you will play a pivotal role in shaping user experiences that are not only innovative but also user-friendly. Your work will involve leveraging user-centered design methods to create compelling designs that enhance the way users interact with Google’s products. You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of UX Designers, Researchers, Engineers, Content Strategists, and Product Managers to gather insights and inform design decisions. This collaborative environment is essential for developing industry-leading products that deliver significant value to users and to Google’s business objectives. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting user experiences from concept to execution, ensuring that all designs align with the Google design language. You will create user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that clearly articulate user interactions and design intent. Your ability to communicate design decisions effectively to teams and stakeholders will be crucial, as you will need to justify your design choices and advocate for the best user experience. The Personalization team is focused on reimagining the search experience, tackling complex engineering challenges while maintaining a universally accessible and useful interface. Your creativity and passion will be instrumental in helping users find the information they need, when they need it. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including Product Managers and Engineers) to develop and execute the product strategy and vision.
  • Create compelling designs (user flows, wireframes, prototypes, etc.) that clearly articulate user interactions and design intent.
  • Communicate design decisions effectively to teams and stakeholders, justify design choices, and advocate for the best user experience.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams based on trust and mutual respect.
  • Define and lead usability studies to gauge the usability of new and existing products, and make constructive suggestions for change and optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of visual design experience in product design or UX/UI design.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience working with UX Designers, Researchers, Engineers, Content Strategists, and Product Managers.
  • Understanding of technical requirements and limitations.
  • Ability to design compelling user experiences across multiple platforms (Android and web), with a strong portfolio showcasing successful consumer-facing mobile and web applications.
  • Possesses strong visual, illustration and motion design skills, and capable of thriving in a highly technical environment.
  • Designer with a strong strategic and critical thinking approach to problem-solving.
