About the position

The Senior UX Visual Designer at Pearson is responsible for creating innovative and engaging interactive learning experiences for higher education and professional learners. This role involves close collaboration with content, product, and engineering teams to enhance current experiences and envision future learning solutions. The designer will take ownership of product design, focusing on user needs and data-driven improvements while working in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and create the visual and interactive design for groundbreaking learning experiences
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams throughout the product development process
  • Understand and advocate for user needs
  • Define key metrics to track success and business impact
  • Maintain clear team alignment around goals and priorities
  • Approach an open-ended problem space with vigor and clarity
  • Think holistically about the user journey and product ecosystem
  • Guide user research and testing, ensuring usability and product consistency
  • Be data-driven and iteratively improve the experience
  • Design for AI-driven teaching and learning experiences

Requirements

  • 7+ years product design experience with an online portfolio of relevant design work
  • Skilled in design at the detail and systems level
  • Confident communicator who can clearly articulate your process, approach, and rationale to others
  • Experience working in a collaborative team comprised of other designers, content strategists, product managers, and developers
  • Prior experience defining and implementing user research efforts
  • Experience designing for AI-driven experiences including LLMs
  • Awareness of design trends across web and mobile devices
  • Experience working with design systems
  • Experience working in an Agile, lean UX, and mobile first environment
  • Understanding the relationship of visual, interaction, and content disciplines
  • Expert proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and/or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in design and/or HCI related field
