About the position

As a UX Writer at Google, you will advocate for design by creating meaningful text that enhances product experiences. Your role involves shaping cohesive narratives across various platforms, particularly focusing on Google Maps. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a unified voice and language, using empathy and data to inform your content decisions. This position is crucial in delivering UX writing and content design for Google Maps, impacting how over a billion users navigate their daily lives.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and advocate for all UX functions throughout the product life-cycle.
  • Drive the development of innovative UX writing and content design solutions to address user, product, and business challenges.
  • Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders to develop a cohesive product narrative.
  • Lead the establishment and improvement of UX writing and content design processes across multiple teams or products.
  • Influence project priorities to balance tactical and strategic efforts in alignment with project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in writing, editorial, marketing, UX writing, content design, or related fields, including leading content strategy projects.
  • A portfolio, website, or relevant links to your work.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of writing, editorial, marketing, or UX writing experience in an agency setting and interacting with executive leadership.
  • 3 years of experience in a cross-functional technology organization.
  • Experience defining and influencing writing guidelines and language patterns.
  • Experience conducting language and design audits across products and feature sets.
  • Experience within maps or geo-spatial domains, or writing for new domains such as AI.
