About the position

The Senior Vehicle Integration Engineer II at Rocket Lab is responsible for the integration, testing, and launch of the Neutron launch vehicle. This role involves collaborating with various teams to develop processes, design necessary equipment, and ensure the successful integration of flight hardware and ground support equipment. The engineer will also contribute to the development of operational procedures and maintain planning documents related to the launch vehicle configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop con-ops and design ground support tooling for handling components of the Neutron Launch Vehicle.
  • Execute procedures for the integration of flight hardware and ground support equipment.
  • Support the Neutron Integration Manager in day-to-day execution of vehicle integration and systems.
  • Develop inspection, repair, assembly, and system test procedures based on lessons learned.
  • Design high-level vehicle maintenance architecture for efficiency.
  • Execute vehicle system level checkouts for launch vehicles and components.
  • Document non-conformances and system improvements.
  • Maintain integrated planning documents for Launch Vehicle configurations.
  • Design and develop tools and hardware for vehicle processing.
  • Build and maintain Neutron processing facilities.
  • Collaborate with management and technicians on daily tasks.
  • Manage multiple priorities towards common project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering required.
  • 8+ years of experience in building and testing hardware associated with launch vehicles.
  • Proficiency in authoring comprehensive work instructions and procedures for assembly, test, and launch.
  • Ability to interface with multidisciplinary functions of mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Science degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in developing and utilizing comprehensive work instructions and test procedures.
  • Experience with launch vehicle hardware and subsystems including avionics and structures.
  • Experience in building and testing complex assemblies at system and sub-system levels.
  • Experience with Project Management principles.
