About the position

The Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Farm Credit Illinois is a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing the association's corporate accounting, cash management, financial analysis and reporting, capital planning, funding and liquidity, budget, and business planning functions. The CFO provides strategic direction, ensures compliance with financial regulations, and leads initiatives to enhance the organization's financial health and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and direction to the organizational strategic planning process and innovation activities.
  • Demonstrate initiative to anticipate, plan, organize, inspire, and lead the Association to opportunities.
  • Serve as a role model for the association's vision, mission, core values, and foundational and leadership competencies.
  • Develop a network of both external and internal relationships to enhance the Association's image and identify collaboration opportunities.
  • Serve on internal and external committees, including Finance Committee and AgriBank District CFO Advisory Workgroup.
  • Set strategic direction and monitor ongoing activities of functional business areas under direct supervision.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of GAAP compliant financial reporting to stakeholders.
  • Chair the internal Finance Committee and oversee the development of the budget and business plan.
  • Chair the internal Asset Liability Committee and manage funding and liquidity reporting.
  • Coordinate and develop ad hoc reporting and analysis for senior leadership and the Board.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures for proper financial operations.
  • Provide supervision and management to business functions under direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices.
  • Ability to obtain expert knowledge of District and Association policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of sales and marketing best practices and agri-business.
  • Ability to obtain working knowledge of the Farm Credit Act and FCA Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws and IRS Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of financial markets and their influence.
  • Skill in identifying key issues and relationships relevant to achieving long-range goals.
  • Skill in applying processes and procedures to factual data for logical decision-making.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with various organizations and individuals.
  • Skill in selecting, managing, coaching, motivating, and developing diverse teams.
  • Skill in developing and implementing accounting/financial policies and procedures.
  • Skill in analyzing complex financial data using logic and quantitative reasoning.
  • Skill in identifying challenging goals and motivating others to achieve them.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
