About the position

The Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (SRAlab) is responsible for providing vision and leadership for the operations, integration, and implementation of information systems. This role supports the overall strategic, research, and operating plans of the organization, ensuring that applications, infrastructure, analytics, and information security align with SRAlab's strategic goals. The CIO will lead technology improvement initiatives, focusing on data analytics and AI, while fostering an inclusive environment that champions diversity and equity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technology expertise in the strategic planning process by integrating future trends in healthcare technology and data analytics with current needs.
  • Lead the development of the IT strategic plan and ongoing forecasting efforts to anticipate future technology needs.
  • Act as the executive champion for the design and architecture of an innovative enterprise-wide information system.
  • Maintain and expand networks within the technology and healthcare communities to enhance SRAlab's strategic positioning.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making with advanced data and analytics across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain IT systems and services that provide excellent customer service and meet security and privacy standards.
  • Keep current with changes in technology and public policy, providing analysis and recommendations to Executive Leadership.
  • Utilize metrics to drive IT performance and lead the IT team as a data-driven department.
  • Benchmark the industry to stay current with trends in information technology.
  • Lead change management efforts to support SRAlab's digital transformation.
  • Oversee the IT budget and align financial resources with strategic priorities.
  • Maintain training and development processes for all staff to ensure competency in using technologies.
  • Promote effective communication and strong collaborative relationships throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in general IT work, with a strong preference for healthcare emphasis.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as an IT Director in a hospital setting, with Vice President or CIO level leadership preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and contemporary IT processes, with experience in transforming organizational IT.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills with internal clients.
  • Ability to manage through influence and work effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Proven ability to establish and deliver critical performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated record of fact-based decision making and overall leadership skills.
  • Experience with ITSM and common security frameworks.
  • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure design and management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot information systems problems.
  • Strong written communication skills, including report presentation.
  • Effective people leadership skills, including talent development and succession planning.
  • Strong analytical and operational problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, lean six sigma, and continuous improvement project systems.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis, and best practice IT control programs.
