About the position

The Senior Vice President, Cloud Security Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role at Citi is a pivotal position within the Chief Information Security Office (CISO). This role is designed for a highly skilled individual who will be part of the Cloud Security team, which is responsible for ensuring the security of both Private and Public Cloud environments, as well as Container Security and strategic Secrets products. As the team embarks on a multiyear transformation journey, the SRE will play a crucial role in shaping the SRE strategy and operating model, focusing on engineering excellence and security by design. In this position, you will be tasked with architecting and building tools and platforms that enhance the capabilities of the SRE team. You will work closely with various stakeholders across Engineering and Operations, fostering collaboration and promoting SRE best practices throughout the organization. A significant aspect of your role will involve actively managing production-level incidents until resolution, ensuring that the systems remain robust and secure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in site reliability engineering concepts and practices, with a proven track record of working towards Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and observability capabilities at scale. You will be expected to leverage your experience with container technologies, public cloud platforms, and secrets management tools to elevate the security posture of Citi's technical assets. Your ability to navigate complex organizational structures and work under pressure will be essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work across Container products and Secrets products, across Public and Private Cloud, as well as Cloud native specific products.
  • Architect and build tools and platforms that provide capabilities for SRE.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders and partners across Engineering and Operations as well as partner teams within the wider Citi organization.
  • Actively own production level incidents until resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Certification or formal training in site reliability engineering concepts and practices.
  • Prior experience working towards SLIs, SLOs and observability capabilities at a large scale.
  • 5+ years experience in Python (preferable) or Java, on large scale systems alongside Linux based scripting languages.
  • Experience working on observability, logging and metrics toolsets.
  • Experience of k8s and container technologies such as Docker, Openshift and EKS.
  • Experience with public cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • Experience with Secrets products such as HashiCorp Vault or CyberArk.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
