About the position

Thos. Moser, a distinguished American furniture company with over 50 years of heritage, is seeking a Senior Vice President (SVP) of Sales & Marketing to join their executive team in Auburn, Maine. This pivotal role is designed for a dynamic leader who will spearhead the Residential Sales, Marketing, and Customer Experience functions of the company. The SVP will report directly to the President & CEO and will be instrumental in shaping the strategic vision for sales and marketing initiatives that align with the company's financial and growth objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth and expanding market share through innovative sales strategies and effective marketing campaigns. This includes leading a talented omni-channel sales team to meet net bookings and gross margin goals, while implementing best practices in relationship selling to enhance revenue growth and customer lifetime value. The SVP will also oversee the company's brand positioning and customer experience across various channels, ensuring a cohesive and engaging customer journey from advertising to showroom interactions. In addition to these responsibilities, the SVP will mentor the Director of Marketing and the Customer Experience Manager, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to facilitate assortment planning, new product ideation, and successful product launches. The SVP will also cultivate strategic partnerships to enhance brand awareness and drive incremental sales, while developing a showroom success model and expansion strategy to further elevate the company's market presence.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute sales and marketing strategies that align with the company's financial, brand, and growth goals.
  • Lead the omni-channel sales team to achieve net bookings and gross margin goals.
  • Implement best practices in relationship selling to maximize revenue growth and lifetime value.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship for the Director of Marketing, ensuring the health and vitality of Moser's customer file, including response rates, AOV, conversion, retention, LTV, and customer acquisition.
  • Oversee all aspects of the company's brand positioning and customer experience across channels and touchpoints, including advertising, showrooms, call center, catalog production, website, social media, email campaigns, partnerships, and collaborations.
  • Ensure marketing support for the Contract Sales Channel, including brand positioning, storytelling, collateral materials, case studies, signage, emails, newsletters, and website rebuild.
  • Utilize sales data and market insights to inform showroom presentations, website, and catalog pagination.
  • Lead and mentor the Customer Experience Manager to maximize post-delivery satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Lead and facilitate a cross-functional group responsible for assortment planning, new product ideation, design commercialization, and launch.
  • Cultivate partnerships and alliances that generate incremental sales and increase brand awareness.
  • Develop a showroom success model and expansion strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in selling high-end specialty products, preferably home furnishings, luxury goods, and/or Maine-crafted products, and building deep, long-lasting customer relationships.
  • Proven experience in leading, motivating, incentivizing, and building a team of sales professionals.
  • Functional understanding of DTC marketing and customer acquisition tactics, including direct mail, social media, and digital marketing.
  • Experience establishing strategic partnerships to expand brand footprint while enhancing brand values.
  • Knowledge of showroom operations, including event planning, customer acquisition, and location, staffing, and branding strategies.
  • Ability to shape assortment and product direction based on sales data, customer feedback, and market trends.
