About the position

The Senior Vice President, Operational Risk - Fund Services at BNY is a leadership role responsible for overseeing operational risk management within the Asset Servicing Operational Risk team. This position involves daily interactions with business leaders to ensure effective risk management practices are in place, aligning with the company's strategic priorities. The role requires a strong understanding of operational risks associated with Fund Services, including Global Transfer Agency and Accounting, and involves advising business lines on risk assessments and compliance with the Operational Risk Management Framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent oversight and challenge of day-to-day risk management activities.
  • Assist business lines with evaluating existing processes and addressing control gaps.
  • Anticipate, assess, monitor, and report on operational, fiduciary, reputational, business, and strategic risks.
  • Ensure compliance with the Operational Risk Management Framework by identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Develop reporting on risk management activities and assign tasks to junior professionals.
  • Recommend modifications to reduce implementation risk and ensure compliance with risk management documentation.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management, Compliance, and Audit teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required; graduate degree preferred.
  • 10-12 years of total work experience with 1-3 years in operational risk preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with Transfer Agency or Accounting products and operations.
  • Understanding of the Operational Risk Framework and associated risk tools (e.g., RCSAs, KRIs).
  • Knowledge of client asset safety regulations and principles.
  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to quickly learn new information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence senior leaders effectively.
  • Demonstrable communication, written, and presentation skills.
