About the position

The Senior Video Editor at Homes.com will play a crucial role in creating high-quality video content that supports buyers, sellers, and real estate agents throughout the home-search process. This position requires a blend of creativity and technical expertise to produce engaging visual stories that highlight neighborhoods and assist agents in connecting with clients. The role involves collaboration with a team of writers, editors, and photographers to deliver compelling narratives that resonate with the audience.

Responsibilities

  • Edit high-quality short-form and long-form video projects.
  • Edit See-N-Say video content with VO and B-roll.
  • Edit on-cam interview content into cohesive storytelling short and long-form content.
  • Edit marketing, docu-style, multi-cam post, greenscreen, and location-style videos.
  • Create animations and motion graphics using After Effects, Motion, and other software.
  • Mentor junior-level editors.
  • Problem-solve and troubleshoot common software and hardware issues.
  • Collaborate with the video content team, writers, producers, and photographers to achieve department goals.
  • Process, categorize, and log footage, interviews, and stock-gathering content.
  • Edit multiple interviews down to cohesive marketing pieces with b-roll storytelling.
  • Occasionally perform quality assurance on junior team members' work with improvement notes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of editing experience, preferably at an agency, brand, or cable network.
  • Mastery of non-linear editing software (Primarily Adobe Suite, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition, but may also include Davinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow style guides and brand guidelines.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in working with standard and LOG footage from various codecs including h.264, MOV, B-raw, R3D REDCODE Raw, Canon Raw, and ProRes.
  • Proficiency with color spaces (Wide Gamut, SDR, HDR, Rec709, and BT2020), LUTs, color correction, and grading using waveform, histograms, and vector scope data.
  • Strong proficiency in working with voice-over files to clean and master audio files including equalizing and compressors.
  • Proficiency in working with transcoding footage and proxy generation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in commercial shoots and documentary-style storytelling.
  • Familiarity with various video editing techniques and styles.
