About the position

The Senior Video Editor at Yahoo Sports will lead creative content initiatives, focusing on narrative storytelling and digital content production. This role requires a passion for sports, exceptional editing skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a remote team. The editor will manage multiple projects, provide guidance to junior staff, and ensure all content meets quality standards while adapting to audience preferences.

Responsibilities

• Lead creative content initiatives, including sizzle reels and narrative storytelling on digital platforms.
• Provide constructive feedback and guidance to junior editors and other production staff.
• Conceive and execute digital content from ideation to final delivery.
• Demonstrate excellence in industry-standard editing software, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects.
• Review and provide input on edited content before final delivery.
• Manage multiple creative projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure proper file formats are followed.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and creative meetings.
• Analyze audience and engagement metrics to improve content quality.
• Adapt editing styles based on audience preferences and platform requirements.
• Stay updated with the latest editing techniques and industry trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5+ years of professional experience in video editing, preferably in sports.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of editing styles and projects.
• Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer) and motion graphics (After Effects).
• Solid understanding of video production workflows, formats, and compression techniques.
• Excellent storytelling abilities and a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
