About the position

Dotdash Meredith is seeking a highly creative and dynamic Senior Video Editor to craft shareable and engaging videos for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other owned and operated channels. In this role, you will collaborate closely with producers to create snappy and stylized web videos across multiple sites, utilizing various formats ranging from longer form hosted videos for YouTube to quick cuts for TikTok and everything in between. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional sense of pacing and graphical aesthetics, along with a sharp eye for best practices across all platforms. As the largest digital publisher in the country, our content spans exciting celebrity videos for brands like InStyle and Byrdie, to food and lifestyle content for AllRecipes and Food & Wine. The Senior Video Editor will be responsible for editing videos that inspire and inform audiences across these diverse brands. You will be a creative team player with a passion for storytelling and a strong understanding of editing techniques that engage viewers and keep them watching until the end. A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality work for YouTube, as well as experience editing for various other platforms, is essential. This position requires three days of onsite work each week, with the option to work remotely for two days. Essential job responsibilities include coordinating and communicating with in-house producers to creatively and efficiently execute a wide range of videos in a fast-paced environment for multiple online brands. You will need to seamlessly pivot between graphic packages and editing styles, including celebrity interviews, recipes, product reviews, beauty, home improvement, and documentary-style projects. The ability to move quickly across projects with minimal ramp-up time is crucial. You will ensure that videos are optimized for various platforms, adhering to platform-specific guidelines and best practices for YouTube, social media, and other digital channels. Proactively identifying creative ways to incorporate text, sound effects, music, and more to enhance video engagement is a key part of the role. You will take ownership of the final exports, ensuring they meet the same high standards as those set by producers. Your technical skills and creativity will be essential in every edit, and you should be self-sufficient in building cuts based on scripts and articles with little guidance from producers. Maintaining brand consistency and quality standards across all video content is vital, ensuring alignment with Dotdash Meredith's brand voice and style. You will manage feedback from producers, delivering flawless edits and revisions while striving to catch errors before they escalate. Basic color correction and audio mixing will also be part of your responsibilities, along with managing your personal production queue, asset delivery, and uploads across content management tools such as Google Sheets, Airtable, and our in-house CMS. As a team leader, you will mentor junior editors, bring new ideas to the table, and stay on top of the latest trends, proactively suggesting new ideas and techniques to enhance video quality and engagement.
