About the position

As a Visual Designer at Google, you will play a crucial role in creating beautiful and accessible user experiences across various products. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to gather insights and inform design, leveraging user-centered design methods from concept to execution. Your work will involve maturing and evolving design frameworks, maintaining asset management processes, and influencing product visual styles to enhance Google's brand promise and value proposition.

Responsibilities

  • Mature and evolve the notion of framework by collaborating with other leads to form a cohesive offering across Google products.
  • Work across programs to define, maintain, and evolve the tools, processes, and communication around asset management.
  • Leverage principal contributors to explore concept development to influence product, a point-of-view around visual style, and product commitments.
  • Defend Google products, our brand promise, and its unique value prop amid an interlaced relationship with Google.
  • Partner with visual programs within our organization to evolve and apply new design styles and aesthetics for our suite of products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of visual design experience in product design or UX/UI design.
  • Experience implementing visual design systems across platforms in an iterative software development environment.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch.
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: illustration, animation, motion graphics, creative direction, prototyping.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • Experience in rapid prototyping.
  • Ability to communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale within a user-centered design process.
  • Skills in communicating and influencing product design strategy.
