About the position

The Senior Visual Designer in the YouTube Art Department at Google is responsible for crafting industry-leading user experiences through visual, interactive, and brand design. This role emphasizes user-centered design methods and collaboration with cross-functional teams to evolve the YouTube brand and visual design system. The designer will work on detailed mockups and prototypes, ensuring high-quality visual direction and consistency across products.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, craft, and deliver detailed mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas.
• Direct teams in visual design by defining and establishing the visual direction, process/procedures, and guiding implementation to achieve a high level of quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners and teams across YouTube (Product managers, Engineering, Program Managers, UX teams, and Marketing).
• Partner with the YouTube UX team to improve the collective visual design language for the company as a whole.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience in product design or UX.
• Experience implementing visual design systems across platforms in an iterative software development environment, applying design tools (e.g. Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch).

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in product design or UX.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
• 2 years of experience leading design projects.
• 1 year of experience working with executive leaders.
• Ability to communicate conceptual ideas and design within a user-centered design process along with excellent communication skills in influencing product design strategy.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with an understanding of technical constraints and limitations in designing for platforms like desktop, mobile (Android and iOS).

Benefits

• Base salary range of $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
