About the position

The Senior Vice President - Risk and Compliance is responsible for overseeing all risk and compliance activities within the organization. This role ensures that the company's operations align with its vision, strategic initiatives, and applicable regulations. The SVP will implement a comprehensive compliance strategy and risk management framework, manage the enterprise risk program, and provide leadership to teams while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee all risk and compliance activities.
  • Implement and oversee a comprehensive compliance strategy that aligns with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement a risk management framework to identify, measure, and analyze potential risks.
  • Manage the enterprise risk management program and oversee an inter-departmental compliance committee.
  • Maintain knowledge of laws and regulatory compliance trends and changes.
  • Oversee property, casualty, and liability insurance programs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Consult with the CEO and other Senior Vice Presidents in overall management.
  • Attend monthly Cooperative board meetings and make presentations as necessary.
  • Participate in industry-related organizations and committees as needed.
  • Serve as an officer of the Cooperative and comply with safety and operating rules.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Ten years of experience in a legal, compliance, or risk role in the electric cooperative or similar industries, with at least five years in a leadership role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Law degree and licensed to practice law in Texas.
  • Certified Risk Manager certification.
  • Experience with North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection.
  • Five years of corporate counsel experience, including real estate transactions, easements, and contracts.
