About the position

Merrick is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join their Water Group, focusing on the design and construction oversight of water and wastewater infrastructure. The role involves performing engineering tasks, providing construction support, and managing design teams while ensuring compliance with design standards and effective communication with clients and government agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments in the analysis and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including advanced treatment/nutrient removal processes using BioWin process modeling software.
  • Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports, and work products.
  • Provide construction support and oversight including administration, limited inspection, and start-up/operations support for treatment plants.
  • Review designs by others for conformance to design standards and support municipal water utility operations and maintenance teams.
  • Direct and manage a team of design engineers and/or technicians on water and wastewater projects.
  • Make sound engineering decisions and exercise initiative and judgment commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Lead project progress meetings, make project presentations, and provide clear written communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School.
  • Eight (8) - twelve (12) years of experience in the design and construction oversight of water and/or wastewater infrastructure facilities and projects.
  • Experience working on Wastewater projects.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) State of Colorado certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree with emphasis in treatment process preferred.
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with Water/Sanitary Sewer modeling.
  • Experience with BioWin Modeling.
  • Experience in advanced treatment and nutrient removal process design.
  • Familiarity with GIS Systems and Programs.
  • Public works design experience with local, State and Federal governments.
