About the position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Water Resources Project Engineer to join their growing Water group. This role involves engaging in a variety of projects related to water resources, including the design and evaluation of waterway structures, hydropower features, and flood risk management. The position offers the opportunity to work on significant infrastructure projects and contribute to the development of innovative solutions in water resources engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Water resources engineering for design and evaluation of waterway structures, locks, dams, dam safety, hydropower, flood risk management, ecosystem restoration, and waterfront facility design and rehabilitation projects.
  • Select hydrologic approach and modeling tools, set up and solve surface water hydrology problems.
  • Select hydraulic approach and modeling tools, set up and solve open channel and closed conduit hydraulic problems for various projects.
  • Conduct safety and condition inspection surveys for condition evaluation or in support of design efforts, including obtaining measurements and writing reports.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, making adaptations and modifications to existing designs.
  • Help to prepare construction documents (plans and specifications).
  • Lead and mentor junior staff to develop their understanding of water resources engineering analyses, design, and construction.
  • Develop work scopes, technical proposals, and manage the hydrologic and hydraulic design aspects of projects.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • MS Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • PE license in the state where office is located, or ability to obtain.
  • 7 or more years of experience in water resources engineering.
  • Ability to become licensed in other states where work is located.
  • Keen interest and passion in application of hydrology and hydraulics to the field of water resources engineering.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Desire to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers or the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will be a plus.
