About the position

The Senior Web Designer is responsible for enhancing the digital design and user experience for Merrell.com. This role involves directing and executing design across various media types, collaborating with multiple teams to elevate the ecommerce and brand experience for consumers. The designer will lead projects, mentor other designers, and stay updated with the latest design trends to ensure the brand remains at the forefront of digital design.

Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee the website using brand creative expression, including site design, user experience, email, digital ads, and direct mail.
  • Guide others through the digital creative process, aligning with the creative director on brand vision and guidelines.
  • Present and collaborate on concepts, wireframes, and storyboards for campaign execution across multiple teams.
  • Create digital content including web graphics, infographics, social media advertising, video, and animated GIFs.
  • Lead, plan, and coordinate seasonal photoshoots with outside vendors for product content.
  • Focus on results-oriented design and continuous learning to enhance consumer experience.
  • Work with the performance marketing team to create compelling digital content that increases ROAS and optimizes campaigns.
  • Partner with internal teams to ideate and execute test scenarios to improve user experience across digital channels.
  • Collaborate with the creative director and content manager on key stories and product launches.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and processes in design.
  • Lead and mentor designers, providing creative direction and oversight while coordinating priorities.
  • Communicate effectively to articulate ideas and concepts internally and externally.
  • Perform duties consistent with the Company's AAP/EEO goals and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent work experience.
  • Multi-media design experience in digital marketing, photography, email, video, direct mail, and eCommerce.
  • Demonstrated creative experience through a portfolio.
  • Strong project management and time management skills.
  • Open to feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Video editing and digital animation skills are a plus.
  • Extensive printed and digital portfolio demonstrating relevant experience.
  • Keen eye for detail in photography, imagery, and digital assets.
  • Strong experience with web graphic optimization techniques.
  • Mastery of Adobe Photoshop and the full creative suite.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in responsive email and mobile/tablet design.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS.
  • UI/UX Design experience preferred.
