As a Senior Web/Mobile Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our Marketplace Team, focusing on enhancing the user experience for our Credit Card offerings. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and collaborative spirit, as you will be responsible for the technical design and delivery of significant new features while also improving the performance of our mobile and web applications. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining shared codebases and services that ensure predictable, highly available, and scalable development. In this role, you will engage in technical design and code reviews, collaborating closely with team members and product leads to refine requirements and ensure timely and precise code delivery. You will also provide ongoing support for deployed features, ensuring that our applications meet the highest standards of quality and performance. The position is based on-site four days a week at our headquarters in Chelsea, NYC, allowing for close collaboration with your team and stakeholders. As a Senior Web/Mobile Engineer, you will not only contribute to the production and deployment of user-facing applications but also mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team. Your expertise in React Native, React, and TypeScript will be essential as you work with product owners and designers to create high-quality applications that meet the needs of our users. Responsibilities
- Contribute to the production and deployment of user-facing mobile/web applications
- Work with product owner and designers to create high-quality applications
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and engineering leadership to unblock engineers and mission-critical initiatives
- Develop a balance of unit and end-to-end integration tests to ensure code quality
- Mentor and train junior engineers
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- 3-5+ years of strong experience with React Native, React, and TypeScript
- 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring other web/mobile engineers
- Strong React and React Native experience with knowledge of render cycles and deep React gotchas
- Strong TypeScript experience with understanding of generics, type aliases vs. interface declaration, and merging being potentially unexpected
- Strong understanding of web and mobile app performance measurement and debugging
- Experience with Node/Express and Redux Sagas/React Query
- Awareness of, experience with, or ability/desire to learn NextJS 14 server components
- Experience with balanced unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
- Experience with continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with AWS and Terraform
- Experience with Browserstack
- Experience with Playwright, Cypress or other similar end-to-end testing systems
- Experience with 3rd party UI libraries like MUI or similar
- Performance optimization for core web vitals
- Mobile performance enhancement experience
