About the position

As a Senior Webflow Developer, you will play a pivotal role in leading our Webflow engineering team. Your primary responsibility will be to mentor junior developers while championing best practices in web development. You will be tasked with building world-class digital experiences using Webflow, ensuring that the websites we create are not only functional but also visually appealing and user-friendly. Your expertise will guide the team in creating fully functional Webflow websites based on Figma designs, making necessary edits, and extending the functionality of existing sites. You will integrate various JavaScript libraries with Webflow to enhance site capabilities, and you will write and debug custom code in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/jQuery to add features and improve user experience. In addition to development tasks, you will build and document complex CMS structures in Webflow, creating client-friendly systems that simplify content management. You will be a champion for our team's best practices, focusing on asset organization, class structures, accessibility, and thorough documentation. Your role will also involve executing quality assurance across multiple devices and browsers, helping clients and teammates understand the possibilities and limitations of Webflow, and mentoring junior developers by reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback. You will assist in resolving technical issues, review websites for accessibility and performance, and collaborate with strategists and designers to devise innovative solutions that meet client needs. Your input will be crucial in estimating and planning development scopes, as well as in managing project budgets effectively. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in both your work and that of your team.

Responsibilities

  • Build fully functional Webflow websites from Figma designs.
  • Make edits to and extend the functionality of existing Webflow websites.
  • Integrate existing JavaScript libraries with Webflow to extend functionality (e.g. Finsweet Attributes, SwiperJS, GSAP, Alpine, etc.).
  • Write and debug custom code (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/jQuery) to add features and functionality to the sites we build.
  • Build and document complex CMS structures in Webflow.
  • Create client-friendly CMS structures that make it easy to add and edit content.
  • Champion our team's best practices and processes, and help improve and build upon them as you see opportunity.
  • Execute thorough quality assurance across devices and major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge).
  • Help clients and teammates understand both the possibilities and constraints of building in Webflow.
  • Mentor junior developers by reviewing their work and providing meaningful feedback.
  • Assist other developers on their projects by polishing their work and prepping websites for launch.
  • Assist clients and teammates in resolving technical issues.
  • Review and test websites for accessibility, speed, functionality, and browser compatibility.
  • Consult with strategists and designers to create inventive solutions to meet our clients' needs.
  • Assist in estimating and planning development scope.
  • Assist project managers in proactively stewarding the project's development budget.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience building websites, landing pages, and stores using Webflow.
  • Highly advanced front-end web development proficiency including the ability to develop complex layouts and animations.
  • Proficient in GSAP or other animation techniques.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with HTML, CSS and JS frameworks and the ability to develop custom-coded solutions for low-code tools when needed.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team and execute tasks independently.
  • Ability to break epics and stories into smaller tasks and estimate time and project costs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to SEO, site performance, page speed, cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility.
  • Good grasp of the implications of design and UX decisions on project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the latest web protocols, standards, and technologies.
  • Experience with tools like Asana, Slack, GitHub, Figma, and the Adobe Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in client services or as part of a team or freelancer (agency experience is even better).
  • Preferred knowledge of accessibility guidelines and best practices for designing and engineering accessible websites.
  • Previous experience working within an agency as part of a team.
  • Experience working in APIs and custom code.
  • ADA Certification or equivalent.
