About the position

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Wire Harness Engineer to design and create wire harness drawings for large battery systems. This role reports to our System Engineering product development team. As part of our team, you will contribute to/work on/be involved in wire harness mechanical routing, connector selection, cable specification, and 2D drawings in collaboration/partnership with mechanical and electrical teams. Responsibilities

  • Develop harnesses for prototype battery and early phase battery programs
  • Design and optimize 3D harness routing and packaging for electromechanical battery systems
  • Identify, evaluate, select, and procure harness components for high volume production
  • Create harness MFG drawings/rework instructions for complex wire harnesses
  • Work with external suppliers and internal prototyping build team to take 3D designs to physical product for development
  • Design harness for harsh environmental conditions
  • Troubleshoot and quality check harnesses in the fabrication, assembly and bring up stages of mule builds
  • Innovate, develop, and improve harness development through the build process
  • Design ancillary parts for harness and low voltage system integration for manufacturing applications

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant harness design experience
  • Knowledge of battery systems, high voltage systems, EMC Strategies, and communications protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
  • Solid mechanical engineering fundamentals: thermal, vibration, strength, durability, corrosion-prevention, materials, etc.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in handling multiple priorities, proactively organizing workloads, and meeting tight delivery timelines
  • Detail-oriented personality with effective documentation and reporting
  • Proficiency in CAD (Computer Aided Design) software
