About the position

The Senior Worldwide Specialist Solutions Architect, Database at AWS is a key role within the AWS sales organization, focusing on addressing complex customer challenges through expert-level technical knowledge. This position involves crafting scalable and resilient technical architectures, guiding customers in migrating applications to the cloud, and influencing product development based on customer feedback. The role requires collaboration with various teams to drive revenue and growth for AWS, particularly in the area of relational databases.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.
  • Provide advanced technical knowledge to your domain aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers' largest and most critical business challenges.
  • Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re: Invent, etc.
  • Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best in class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.
  • Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide. Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population, to help them understand how to integrate Amazon Web Services solutions into customer architectures.

Requirements

  • 7+ years design/implementation/consulting experience of database-driven applications or infrastructures
  • 5+ years management of technical, customer facing resources
  • 5+ years of SQL Server Database implementation, operations and/or solution deployment experience in a business-critical, high-availability context
  • 5+ years of implementation, operations and/or solution deployment on AWS or Azure
  • Hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA, data warehouse architect or database developer
  • Knowledge of the underlying infrastructure requirements such as Networking, Storage, and Hardware Optimization
  • Implementation and tuning experience of Databases including knowledge of Schema Design, Query Tuning and Optimization, Data Migration and Integration
  • Bachelor's degree or Advanced Technical degrees in computer science, software engineering, or mathematics; working knowledge of modern software development practices such as agile methodologies and DevOps

Nice-to-haves

  • History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
  • Familiarity with common enterprise services and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers.
  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
  • AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise
  • Computer Science /relevant degree and/or experience highly desired
  • Executive speaking and presentation skills Formal presentations, white boarding, large and small group presentations.
  • Track record of implementing AWS, Azure, GCP services in a variety of business environments such as large enterprises and start-ups
  • Analytics layer experience including Dashboards, Reporting, and OLAP.
  • Understanding of application, server, and network security is highly desired
  • AWS, Azure and/or GCP Certifications
