About the position

The Senior Writer for Consumer Content at Select Medical plays a pivotal role within the Communications & Branding Department of the Outpatient Division. This position is designed for an experienced writer who will be responsible for creating and updating consumer-facing content that effectively communicates the various programs and services offered by the company’s extensive network of outpatient rehabilitation centers. With over 1,900 physical therapy centers across 38 states and the District of Columbia, the Senior Writer will work closely with market leadership to develop compelling marketing materials and website content aimed at increasing consumer awareness and engagement with Select Medical’s best-in-class rehabilitation services. In this role, the Senior Writer will be tasked with writing and updating consumer collateral for all programs and services, ensuring that the content is relevant, accurate, and adheres to the company’s brand governance standards. The writer will also be responsible for crafting patient success stories and blogs that resonate with the target audience. A critical aspect of the position involves analyzing the effectiveness of consumer collateral throughout its lifecycle, conducting content audits, and applying research and insights to enhance messaging impact. Collaboration with other team members in the Communications & Branding Department is essential, as the Senior Writer will partner on all aspects of content review, production, and distribution. The position is based in Mechanicsburg, PA, and offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for work-from-home flexibility on Mondays and Fridays, with in-office work required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The Senior Writer will report directly to the C&B Director of Outpatient Content Strategy, contributing to a well-rounded strategy for messaging across the organization’s programs and services.

Responsibilities

  • Writes and updates consumer collateral for all programs and services.
  • Writes and updates content across 16 and growing outpatient brand websites.
  • Writes patient success stories and blogs.
  • Ensures consumer content relevancy and accuracy.
  • Ensures consistent tone across all consumer content, regularly analyzes for messaging impact.
  • Applies research and outcomes insights to develop compelling messaging.
  • Monitors effectiveness of consumer collateral throughout lifecycle, i.e. content audits.
  • Partners with C&B teammates on all aspects of consumer content review, production and distribution of consumer content.
  • Edits social media and center-specific web page content.
  • Adheres to company/department brand governance standards.
  • Performs other duties or special projects, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of writing experience.
  • Exceptional writer with proven expertise in developing highly-compelling health care content.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Expert at multi-tasking; high degree of agility to simultaneously manage multiple, large projects.
  • Proven track record in content creation and management across multiple brands and programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Results-driven mindset.
  • Highly collaborative team player.
  • Command of AP Style.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office and project management tools.
