About the position

The Sensor team at Apple is responsible for developing innovative sensors that are integral to various Apple platforms, including Audio, iPads, Macs, and Accessories. The role involves specifying, developing, characterizing, and validating sensor systems, particularly capacitive sensors, for new product applications. The candidate will collaborate with multiple teams to ensure successful integration and performance of these sensors in consumer products.

Responsibilities

  • Specify, build, and validate capacitive sensors in new product applications.
  • Work multi-functionally with test, firmware, and system engineering teams as well as product operations teams.
  • Design new sensor systems and integrate them into products.
  • Create schematic designs for PCBs and/or flexible assemblies.
  • Conduct failure mode analysis, root cause diagnosis, and system-level problem solving.
  • Perform hands-on bench measurements of prototypes.
  • Establish key performance indicators for sensor/system level tests.
  • Document specifications, design, test, and failure analysis processes.
  • Travel for business to support product development, up to 10%.

Requirements

  • Experience in architecture, design, characterization, and validation of sensing systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge in math, physics, and electrical engineering.
  • Experience with manufacturing technology relevant for sensor fabrication is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools.
  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with high volume mass production is a plus.
  • BS degree and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
