About the position

Meta's Smart Glasses team is at the forefront of developing innovative products that enhance personal connections through technology. As a Sensor Hardware Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in this mission by leveraging your expertise in electrical engineering to design and integrate advanced sensing solutions into future Meta products. This position requires a blend of creativity and technical acumen, as you will be responsible for transforming groundbreaking concepts into market-ready products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including internal research groups and external partners, to push the boundaries of technology and deliver best-in-class sensor solutions for battery-operated devices. In this role, you will utilize your strong foundation in analog circuit design and optoelectronics to build, debug, and validate prototypes. Your responsibilities will include applying electrical engineering principles to convert reference designs into custom product solutions, designing schematics, supervising board and flexible printed circuit (FPC) layouts, and actively participating in design reviews to ensure seamless integration of sensors into products. You will also focus on optimizing sensor architecture and circuits for power consumption and battery life, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of performance and efficiency. Additionally, you will work closely with contract manufacturers and joint development manufacturers to leverage their engineering resources, allowing you to concentrate on adding value and differentiating our products. Your role will involve performing lab measurements and factory tests to validate designs and resolve any technical issues that arise. You will drive the resolution of these issues by collaborating with various teams, including Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Quality, and Reliability, as well as the CM/JDM teams. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to push the boundaries of technologies and deliver best in class sensor solutions in battery operated products
  • Collaborate with internal research teams and bring groundbreaking sensing technologies from concept to production
  • Leverage strong analog, circuit design, and optoelectronics fundamentals to build, debug, and validate prototypes
  • Apply electrical engineering fundamentals to convert reference designs into custom product solutions
  • Design schematics, supervise board/FPC layouts, and actively participate in design reviews to support sensors integration into product
  • Optimize sensor architecture and circuits for power consumption and battery life
  • Work closely with CM/JDM resources to leverage their engineers and maximize the focus of internal resources on adding value to and differentiating our product
  • Perform lab measurements and factory tests as needed to validate the design and resolve any issues
  • Drive the resolution of technical issues by working with the cross-functional teams: Electrical, Mechanical, SW, Quality, Reliability as well as the various CM/JDM teams

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in consumer electronics or related fields
  • 2+ years of experience in embedded or mobile system design, sensing technologies and architecture, circuit design, board bring-up and/or product NPI experience
  • Experience working with technical teams, cross-functional groups and/or vendors
  • Experience with hands-on hardware bring-up, debugging, and functional verification

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated experience to bring new technologies to product
  • Demonstrated experience to integrate sensing technologies such as optical sensor, capacitive touch sensor and etc. in a product
  • Experiencing performing bench level power measurements coupled with strong analytical experience
  • Knowledge of the relationship between physical layout and electrical performance
  • Experience to effectively communicate novel concepts to broad audience succinctly and in simple term
  • Experience in test script and firmware developments
