The Sensor Mechanics Engineer will be responsible for development of mechanical prototypes for flow and temperature sensors. This position focuses on translating sensor design concepts into functional mechanical prototypes, refining and improving designs through hands-on testing, and ensuring successful integration into final products. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to tackle complex mechanical challenges, contributing to the innovation and optimization of sensor systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical prototypes for sensor technologies, ensuring designs are functional and robust
  • Utilize machine shop tools and equipment to fabricate, assemble, and modify mechanical prototypes.
  • Conduct hands-on assembly, testing, and refinement of mechanical prototypes, identifying areas for improvement and iterating designs accordingly.
  • Design and execute mechanical experiments to evaluate the performance and durability of sensor prototypes under real-world conditions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate sensor technologies into mechanical prototypes, ensuring proper fit, form, and function within larger systems.
  • Document prototype development processes, test procedures, and results, making clear recommendations for design enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with prototype building using machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for mechanical design and modeling.
  • Experience assembling, testing, and refining mechanical prototypes in a machine shop or lab environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to iterate on designs based on test feedback.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills for presenting results and recommendations to engineering teams.

Nice-to-haves
