About the position

The Sensory Scientist II is an experienced role focused on sensory science, requiring advanced knowledge in human perception and sensory experiences. This position involves leadership in sensory research projects, project management, data analysis, and contributing to research proposals for USAARL in Fort Novosel, AL. The role demands a strong understanding of sensory evaluation techniques and statistical analysis, along with effective communication skills for collaboration and presentation of findings.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, execute, analyze, and report on research projects.
• Manage a research laboratory, including overseeing technicians and junior scientists.
• Develop protocols and complete data collection and analyses.
• Write proposals, reports, and publications, and present findings in meetings.
• Demonstrate subject matter expertise in sensory neuroscience, particularly in vision, audition, or vestibular science.
• Present original work at national and international meetings and chair sessions in the field.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a relevant field.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive understanding of human perception and sensory evaluation techniques.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for interpreting complex data.
• Effective communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating with teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with notable publications in sensory physiology or psychophysical studies.
• Experience in a research laboratory setting.
