About the position

The Senior Principal Systems Engineer for Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) at Northrop Grumman plays a critical role in the Sentinel program, which supports the Air Force's ICBM systems. This position involves providing technical RAM assessments and evaluations as part of the design development process, ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction. The engineer will work closely with integrated product teams to implement and maintain systems that enhance reliability and performance of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, support, and maintain a Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
  • Track failures of functional equipment parts from failure to closure in compliance with FRACAS requirements.
  • Collect diagnostic and maintenance repair data to improve RAM performance.
  • Analyze equipment designs and provide reliability predictions and assessments.
  • Develop Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) for logistic and mission reliability requirements.
  • Conduct Maintenance Task Analyses (MTAs) to determine repair times and maintenance tasks.
  • Perform Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA) to identify critical failure modes.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of failure reporting data and root cause corrective actions.
  • Compile and analyze performance reports and process control statistics.
  • Propose design changes to improve system reliability.
  • Develop and present RAM assessments to Integrated Product Teams (IPT).
  • Collaborate with Supplier Management Team on RAM data requirements.
  • Maintain RAM tasking updates on the RAM Agile Jira Board.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's; 6 years with a Master's; or 4 years with a PhD.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance awarded/renewed within the last 6 years.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Business or STEM related discipline.
  • Experience in developing FMECAs and Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs).
  • Experience in developing mission reliability models for subsystems or assemblies.
  • Experience with Teamcenter and Reliasoft.
  • Prior experience developing software reliability models.
  • Experience with supplier management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
