About the position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Material Distribution Manager 3 to oversee the warehouse and material distribution operations for the Sentinel (GBSD) program in Ogden, Utah. This role is pivotal in managing teams across multiple sites and supporting various programs. The selected individual will be responsible for the direct supervision and management of staff, providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates while adhering to management guidelines and general policies. The position requires planning and performance management focused on cost, schedule, and quality of warehouse and distribution operations. The goal is to ensure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction and compliance as primary objectives. This includes supervising, organizing, directing, and training warehouse employees, as well as establishing, monitoring, and managing operational goals. In addition to daily operations, the Material Distribution Manager will lead and grow a high-performing team of material distribution personnel, providing opportunities for their growth and development. The role involves establishing strategies for operational growth, serving as the project leader for site building implementations, consolidations, and closures, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Kitting & Distribution Center (KDC) in Ogden. The manager will develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping and receiving processes. The position also requires frequent contact with internal personnel and external customer representatives at various management levels, conducting briefings, and participating in technical meetings regarding operational specifics.

Responsibilities

  • Overall management responsibility of the warehouse and material distribution operations for the division.
  • Direct supervision and management of staff across multiple sites.
  • Provide objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines and general policies.
  • Plan and manage performance addressing cost, schedule, and quality of warehouse and distribution operations.
  • Ensure warehouse and material distribution operates at peak efficiency with a focus on customer satisfaction and compliance.
  • Supervise, organize, direct, and train warehouse employees, establishing and managing operational goals.
  • Adhere to budget requirements and work towards obtaining and meeting warehouse and distribution objectives.
  • Lead and grow a team of high-performing material distribution personnel, providing opportunities for growth and development.
  • Establish strategy for operational growth and serve as project leader for site building implementation, consolidations, and closures.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations for the KDC operations in Ogden, UT.
  • Develop warehouse operations systems including product handling, storage requirements, and inventory management.
  • Oversee projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group performed by non-exempt and/or exempt employees.
  • Establish and execute department policies and procedures, recommending modifications as required.
  • Function as an advisor to the team regarding tasks, projects, and operations.
  • Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings for internal and external representatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience; 6 years with a Master's degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance with an in-scope investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • 3 years of formal management experience including performance reviews for direct reports.
  • 5 years prior experience leading a team, projects, and processes; ability to lead and motivate others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Supply Chain Management.
  • In-depth knowledge/experience managing kitting requirements.
  • Extensive experience in inventory control, stock transfer, and movement of items through the supply chain infrastructure.
  • Extensive knowledge of storing and managing inventory with shelf-life requirements and tight environmental controls.
  • Experience working on classified programs in logistics and distribution.
  • Ability to work across disciplines to influence change to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience supporting complex shipping and logistical requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety initiatives to drive a culture of a safety-first environment.
  • High degree of creativity and ability to solve a wide range of problems.
  • Proficiency in SAP enterprise resource planning software.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project).
